With Rahul Dravid walking out to open the innings in the face of a mammoth first innings score by Pakistan, two views can be taken:

1) Was it not fool hardy & extremely high risk to expose arguably the best batsman in the Indian team to the new ball? Where would the Indian team have been, had there been a quick breakthrough with Dravid back in the hut?

2) It could also be viewed as Dravid providing leadership by example – the best sort of leadership possible. Yes, it was risky & it can still come unstuck. But he is still there and the move should surely inspire his team mates to put in a super batting performance.

I subscribe to the latter.
